Congregation Kol Emeth-Conservative
4175 Manuela Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94306

Rabbi Booth will lead a discussion entitled: Choice and Obligation: The Temptation of Temptation.

We all love the temptation of temptation as much or more than temptation itself. The idea that I could have this chocolate is in some way more exciting that the actual chocolate bar. In Levinas’ famous essay on receiving Torah, he articulates a very different view of the world. Come join us as we study a famous legend from the Talmud and explore what it has to say about choice, obligation, and temptation.

Meet us at 1 PM under the olive tree.

May Shabbat Hop at Congregation Beth David: Saturday, 5-5 @ 9:30 AM

April 22, 2012

Looking for a fun and meaningful way to share Shabbat with other young adults? Join Jews’ Next Dor for this month’s Shabbat Hop: Jews’ Next Dor Shabbat at Congregation Beth David. Fellow young adults will be leading a participatory Saturday morning service (see below for how you can get involved in the action) followed by a delicious Kiddush lunch complete with schmoozing and desserts.

Saturday, May 5th at 9:30 AM at Congregation Beth David (19700 Prospect Road, Saratoga, CA 95070)

Shabbat Hop is a collaborative effort of local synagogues and Jewish communal organizations, where a monthly young adult Shabbat experience “hops” from one synagogue to another. Jews’ Next Dor Shabbat, where young adults lead the entire service, is an annual tradition; this year, we are excited to join Shabbat Hop and invite the entire young adult community to join in the festivities.
At Congregation Beth David, egalitarian worship begins at 9:30am; we encourage you to join us then, but you of course are welcome any time. Most of the service is in Hebrew, but transliterated prayer books are available. Males are required to wear a kippah; you can bring your own or borrow one from the synagogue.

Congregation Beth David is located at 19700 Prospect Road, Saratoga, CA 95070; visit them online at http://beth-david.org/. We’re looking forward to seeing you there. If you have any questions related to Jews’ Next Dor or this event, please contact JewsNextDor@beth-david.org. The next Shabbat Hop will occur on June 8 at 6:15pm at Congregation Beth Am.
